Jupiter

It is the 5th planet from the sun. It is the largest planet in the solar system. You guessed it... Jupiter! Jupiters a gas giant with a mass of one thousanth! Jupiter is primarily composed of hydrogen with a quarter of it being heluim. Jupiter has been explored on sevaral occasions by robotic spacecrafts to see if there is anything on land. The atmosphere of Jupiter is the largest planetary atmosphere in the solar system. The great red spot is a persistant anticylonic storm, south of jupiters equator. Observation from earth establish a minimum storm lifetime, between 300 and 400 years. It is desribed as a permanent spot. The great red spot has a cool centre. It is not known exactly what causes the great red spots reddish colour. Theories supported by labotories experiments suppose that the colour may be caused by complex, organic molecules, red phosphorus, or yet another sulfur compound. Jupiter may also have a rocky core. Surrounding jupiter has a faint planetary ring system and a powerful magnetosphere. When viewed from earth, jupiter can reach a apparent magnitude of -2.94, bright enough to cast shadows, and making it on average the third brighest object in the night sky after the moon and venus. Jupiter is a marvelous, awing planet and one of the most favourite planets in the universe.
