Last Friday night there was the Metanex Maths Spectacular which is held in the Pukekura Raceway,New Plymouth. It is a big maths fair where kids from schools all over Taranaki can put a fair entry in the competition or compete in the maths quiz. There were prizes for the winners. I along with Joe, Astin, and Jordan competed in the year 7 quiz, Representing Auroa School.
We had 30 mins to complete 20 questions. Just for fun they added in a parent team. Overall there were 24 teams. It was very hard to answer some of the questions that were given to us but we worked as a team and managed to work out 11 question in the maximum time of 30 mins. It was very nerve-racking when the results were being called, hoping that we were in the top 3.
It was so nail bitingly close but unfortunately we were pipped at the post coming 4th by only 4 points. We were a little disappointed that we didn't get in the top 3 and get a prize, but we were very proud that we bet 19 other teams that were in the race. Hopefully I can get to do it again.
